Sip & Learn with a Taiwanese tea grower: The Five Senses of Alishan | Sun, Oct 15, 1pm-3pm

Sunday, October 15 | 1pm-3pm

Join Silvia, our tea grower and friend from Alishan Mountain, Taiwan, as she hosts an exclusive presentation and tasting event at Terroir Tea Salon. Guests will explore the five senses of Alishan and experience the inspiration behind her teas through sharing of tribal legends, art and tasting of teas.

Silvia will serve three handmade teas and two special teas to each guest with traditional Taiwanese pastry served in between each tea. After the tea tasting, guests will stain each cup holder using a paintbrush to apply tea and ink and create a painting that represents the Alishan forest. Each guest will bring home the painted cup holder and a package of handmade tea as a gift.

Space is limited to 12 guests.

If you’re a high mountain oolong tea lover or you just want to learn more about our favourite type of tea, you won’t want to miss this sensory experience.

Silvia will use our small electric roaster to roast mao cha or “raw tea”. Guests will smell and taste the mao cha then again after slight roasting and after medium roasting. Learn how roasting affects tea aromas and flavours and what your palate prefers.

Roasting could take 30 minutes and 60 minutes so come with questions to ask Silvia while the tea is roasting and you taste the teas. Each guest will receive a tea sample to take home.

Space is limited to 10 guests.
