Walt Disney once said: “All our dreams can come true – if we have the courage to pursue them.”
Becoming a Certified Tea Master in 2014, opening our tea business and traveling to Taiwan to source great teas all indicated our tea dream was coming true. But we struggled to find a retail space in Melbourne to share our teas with customers and we knew we had to consider other locations. We
visited several smaller cities around Australia before we made the difficult decision to return to Canada.
Now that we’re closer to family we are excited they are a part of this journey with us. And as things often fall into place when you know where you’re going and have a clear goal in mind, we finally signed a lease for a retail space in Victoria, British Columbia! It’s known as being the city that’s “more British than the British” so there are plenty of tea lovers. Hopefully after spending years in the big city of Melbourne we’ll introduce Victorians to a new way of appreciating tea.
Working on the ceiling
Since we took possession of the property on June 1 we’ve been working closely with our design team to create a space that is educational, welcoming and celebrates tea. One of the first tasks? Painting the hideous green walls. You would think that green walls would be a perfect fit for selling tea, but the photos don’t represent how close to a hospital gown green colour they were.
Getting ready to say goodbye to the green wall
We’ll unveil the shop design soon at our grand opening, but I can share one thing that will pique your interest in the meantime: we will be the only tea business in Western Canada who prepares teas this way. Check back soon for all the details!
